For Perlman, cigars are more than mere movie props. The 73-year-old thespian makes cigars a part of everyday life. His two favorites are big and bold: the Cuban Hoyo de Monterrey Double Corona for special occasions and the Joya de Nicaragua Anta?o 1970 Gran Consul. He smokes about once a day, usually on the golf course or after a meal, but tries to avoid smoking on set “because of too many interruptions. Cigars deserve unfettered focus.” Perlman’s focus has led to a film career that’s spanned more than 40 years and a deep appreciation for fine tobacco that goes back even further. “Some people meditate,” he offers, matter-of-factly. “I smoke cigars.”
